The Cooper Hill Stylebook
|
The Cooper Hill Stylebook
is an excellent reference book for writers and editors. We have
begun using it ourselves, as opposed to some better-known resources.
This manual was written by a college professor of English and a
high school English teacher with over thirty-five years of experience.
It addresses the most common problems seen in typical high school
and college student writing assignments. The book starts off explaining
proofing marks and gives examples of how they should be used. There
are examples and revision exercises for every English concept presented.
This is more than a reference manual; it is a teaching text as well,
which makes it good for students and professionals alike. We rate
this resource five hearts.

The Stylebook
is the chief reason I earned 760 on the SAT2. The entire test seems to be taken directly from its pages.

I wish I had had this book years ago when I started teaching freshmen writing. It will be the standard handbook for my students from now on.

Practical and time saving, with many examples. The detailed and comprehensive Index makes it is easy to find anything you need for your research. For me it has replaced the MLA Handbook.

The Stylebook has given
me accuracy without compromising my originality. No other handbook has
such accessibility, insight, and humor. It's the key to concise and compelling
writing.

The Stylebook strikes
a very practical balance between teacher instruction and student self-help.
The explanations are clear and accessible, and the exercises eliminate
the need for constant reinforcement by teachers.

The Stylebook is written
in an accessible style and provides plentiful examples and practice exercises
that build both writing competency and self-confidence. As a founding
member of the Writing Board that supervises the compulsory "Writing Across
the Curriculum" program at SUNY (New Paltz), I appreciate the need for
this user-friendly reference book in all disciplines.

Thanks to your fantastic book, I've been placed in a sophomore English class
with only about two other freshmen.
